When all else fails, blame it on a black man..

38-year-old Bonnie Sweeten from the suburbs of Philadelphia made a 911 call last Wednesday claiming that she and her 9-year-old daughter had been kidnapped by two black men. Supposedly, they "snatched" her and her daughter from their SUV and put them into the back of a black Cadillac. (what is it with black people and cadillacs?) Anyways, I guess the "two black men" took Bonnie to Disney World (that’s pretty nice, they could abduct me anytime) because that’s where she was found, without her daughter! She was taken to jail in Florida then returned to Pennsylvania where she was arraigned on misdemeanor charges of identity theft and false reporting. She made bail & posted 10% of it, $100,000 in cash. Sweeten was caught, but not without an Amber alert for her daughter, confiscation of an innocent person's black Cadillac, nationwide coverage, and an angry sentiment amongst black people.

Remember around election time when a McCain volunteer claimed she had been attacked by a big black man who carved the letter "B" in her cheek?? It is 2009, why are we still dealing with the same issues we dealt with decades upon decades ago?

In 1922, the small black town of Rosewood, Florida was destroyed because a white woman was allegedly beaten and raped by a black man. I know you’ve seen the movie. I almost don’t even want to bring myself to dredge up what happened to 14-year-old Emmitt Till in 1955 for talking to a white woman in a store.

Really, what is going on? Is a crime more believable if it is blamed on a black person? Even more believable if it’s on a black man? I guess we can credit it to the big black angry man stereotype. Black people, Asian people, Middle Eastern people, etc. don’t go around blaming things on white people and white people don’t go around blaming crimes on any of the aforementioned except us. Why is that?
